Report for Awareness Program on Women In Engineering

One Day Awareness Program on IEEE WIE was conducted by Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering on 17th December 2016 at Mallareddy Engineering College (Autonomous),secunderabad. Ms. B. Vijayalaxmi, WIE Chair, AG Hyderabad section , Associate professor in VITS, Hyderabad has been invited as resource person. The Guest of Honour was Dr. S. Sudhakara Reddy, Principal of MREC. All Women faculty of MREC(A) have participated in awareness program on WIE.

The registration process started at 9.30 am to 10.00 am. The event was started at 10.00 am at ECE-E-Class room by inviting dignitaries on to the Dias. The event was initiated by lightening the traditional lamp and prayer song. An introductory speech was done by Dr. S. Sudhakara Reddy Principal of MREC(A). The Coordinator of Professional Chapters MREC(A) & HOD of EEE department Dr.M.Lakshmi Swarupa has given the Brief note about the Programme

The speech of the day was done by Resource Person Mrs. B. Vijayalaxmi, on the importance of WIE to upgrade the female role in the field of Engineering. Vote of thanks was made by WIE Programme coordinator.

The session was started at 10.55 am and She explained about how IEEE WIE strives to:

  • recognize women's outstanding achievements in electrical and electronics engineering through IEEE Awards nominations;
  • organize receptions at major technical conferences to enhance networking and promote membership in WIE;
  • advocate women in leadership roles in IEEE governance and career advancement for women in the profession;
  • provide assistance with the formation of new WIE Affinity Groups and support ongoing activities;
  • promote IEEE member grade advancement for women to the membership grades of Senior member and Fellow;
  • facilitate the development of programs and activities that promote the entry into and retention of women in engineering programs;
  • Administer the IEEE Student-Teacher and Research Engineer/Scientist (STAR) Program to mentor young women in junior and high schools.

Report On Inauguration of IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity group on dated: 3rd July 2017


About the event:

IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is one of the largest international professional organizations dedicated to promoting women engineers and scientists and inspiring girls around the world to follow their academic interests to a career in engineering. This organisation consists of 15000+ members, 70+countries and 600+ affinity groups to which our college affinity group is also included.

MREC IEEE student branch received the approval for WIE Affinity Group got on June 6th 2017. The inauguration ceremony of WIE Affinity Group is organised by the IEEE student branch on 3rd July 2017 with the support of the management and Head of the Institution at Malla Reddy Engineering College (Autonomous), Secunderabad.

Dr.M. Laxmi Narayana , Chair person of IEEE, Hyderabad section and Dr. B. Vijayalaxmi, WIE Chair, AG Hyderabad section has been invited as Guest of Honour for the event. The President of the event was Dr. S. Sudhakara Reddy, Principal of MREC. All Women Faculty and Girl Students of MREC(A) have participated in inauguration of WIE AG.

The ceremony started at 11AM by inviting dignitaries on to the dais. The event was initiated by lightning of Traditional Lamp by the Chief Guests and members followed by a prayer song.

An introduction speech was given by Dr. S. Sudhakara Reddy Principal of MREC (A). Then the chair person of WIE Ms. Vijayalaxmi shared her views with the audience and congratulated the new Affinity Group and gave the guidance to do best by being a part of WIE.The speech of the day was given by the chief guest Dr.M.Laxmi Narayana, he has explained the further process of being one of the affinity groups and advised that - now it is the duty of the students to utilise this aspect for a good cause and concluded by congratulating the team.

The certified approval of IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity group was handed over by IEEE chair, Hyderabad section to Principal, MREC (A).


After the speech, the Principal honoured the chief guests and presented them with memento.


Dr.M. Laxmi Swarupa, MREC(A) IEEE Branch Counsellor,presented ppt about MREC(A) IEEESB and its importance, She shared her experience as IEEE member. She introduced MREC IEEE –WIE Affinity Group Executive Committee 2017.

The session was ended with the “Vote Of Thanks” was given by WIE vice chair K. Deepthi.

The inauguration ceremony has been successful event and informative.


Post Event Report on STAR-CAREER AWARENESS PROGRAMME Dated: 2ndAugust 2017 Hyderabad

This institution consists of 15000+ members, 70+countries and 600+ affinity groups to which our college affinity group is also included.

MREC Student branch affinity group has started WIE group. As a part of it we started STAR (Student Teacher and Research Engineer Programme). As a part of it we thought creating awareness about engineering and its use to government school children and to guide them to help them understand engineering.

As a part of it, the first programme was conducted in “Guru Jaimal Jain Parasava Padmodaya” Government school located in Bolarum,Hyderabad on 2nd August. The students from VIII,IX ,X grades gathered in Digital class room and the session started at 2:00 PM .

The presentation covers the need of education and its importance. Then the explanation about engineering and different branches in it and what each branch does in the field of engineering with the help of slides and animation videos. In addition to that demo on live projects also shown to the students to create anxiety among the students.

The students are very interestingly and actively participated in the program. In between we questioned them they answered them enthusiastically. As encouragement we gave them small gifts for answering. At the end of session, the students gave feedback about the session as it was very useful for them and very interesting.

The Empowerment program of women in engineering was conducted by Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering on 1st September, 2017 at Malla Reddy Engineering College (Autonomous), Secunderabad. The Guest of Honor was Dr. S. Sudhakara Reddy, Principal of MREC. All Women faculty of MREC(A) of EEE department have participated in this event.

Modern Power System Operation & Control (MPSOC)

The Department of EEE has organized a National Level Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Modern Power System Operation & Control ( MPSOC)” , from 11th to 16th July, 2016 at MREC(A).The goal of FDP is to promote scientific information interchange between Lecturers, Researchers, and Industrialist working in and around the country.

The objective of faculty development program is to provide deep knowledge in Modern Power System Operation & Control. This FDP will be very useful to teachers to nourish their teaching and practical knowledge. This programme also focuses on exploring various research opportunities and challenges in the field of Modern Power System Operation & Control.

NATIONAL CONFERENCE


NCRIEE – 2K16

Malla Reddy Engineering College (MREC) has organized a 3 rd National Conference on “RECENT INNOVATIONS IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING” (NCRIEE –2K16) on 12th November 2016 .Conference is aimed to provide a platform to discuss emerging trends in Science, Technology & Engineering. Conference tracks are categorized into 3 tracks with individual themes namely, Computational Intelligence, Power Systems & Power Electronics for effectively handling theme wise ideas.

The conference received more than 52 papers and 36 papers are shortlisted for oral presentation, Authors from more than 2 states participated and presented their papers.

On the day of inauguration Dr. G.Yesuratnam garu from Osmania University presided over as Guest of Honor and Dr. Alivelu Manga Parimi from BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, Keynote Speaker also shared her knowledge on various Research Methods.
