"ON TWO DAY WORKSHOP ORGANIZED BY ECE DEPARTMENT-MREC ON 30th August and 1st September 2016"

The Department of ECE has organized a two day workshop on “Make Objects, Gadgets and ROBOTs” by Mr.M.Kishore Verma, Design Engineer, EPR Labs, Chennai on 30th August and 1st September 2016 at ECE seminar hall between 09:30 AM to 4:00 PM for the benefit of third year students.

Mr.Kishore verma emphasized on importance of basic concepts of electronics, microcontrollers and skills required to design and implement an embedded project. The lecture also discussed about the software programming techniques and installation using Keil software and it’s usage in embedded applications with authenticated explanations and real time examples.

The workshop given a lot of significance to description of 8251 processor board, its pin configuration due to its immense importance in embedded system programming. The workshop discussed about implementation of real time embedded systems such as small moving robot, line follower, Bluetooth controlled car, Traffic signals, LED displays and Mobile phone controlled robot etc. Around 140 students of third year B.Tech of ECE has attended and interacted with the guest. A good feedback has been given by the students.

The Department of ECE has organized an industrial visit to “Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Hyderabad on 05th March 2016 for the benefit of third year students.

INCOIS was established as an autonomous body in 1999 under the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), to provide the best possible ocean information and advisory services to society, industry, government agencies and the scientific community through sustained ocean observations and constant improvements through systematic and focused research. It was a great experience to visit Regional Telecom Training Centre with the students of ECE III year on 20th February 2016. Students are very much satisfied with this visit. They have shown various models of telecommunications and students observed.

  • Potential fishing zone and Tsunami alert zone

They have explained various technologies that provide daily advisories to fisher folk to help them easily locate areas of abundant fish in the ocean while saving on both fuel and time used to search for the same. The tsunami alert zone provides information on round-the-clock monitoring and warning services for the coastal population on tsunamis, storm surges, high waves, etc. through the in-house Indian Tsunami Early Warning Centre (ITWEC).

Around 200 students wholeheartedly felt that they have learned few concepts both theoretically and practically in this visit to INCOIS. This visit is coordinated by D.Praveen kumar, M.Murali Krishna,B.Upender Rao and Mr.Kranthi Kumar.We thanks management and TEQUIP II for providing such a wonderful opportunity for visiting INCOIS, Hyderabad.

The Department of ECE has organized a industrial visit to “Regional Telecom Training Centre, BSNL, Gachibowli, Hyderabad on 20th February 2016 for the benefit of third year students.

RTTC is a fully standards-compliant ISO 9001:2008 certified Training center, established by BSNL to impart training in Latest Telecom Technologies.

It was a great experience to visit Regional Telecom Training Centre with the students of ECE III year on 20th February 2016. Students are very much satisfied with this visit. They have shown various models of telecommunications and students observed.

  • Optical Fiber Technology and Telecom Switching Systems
  • Broadband Communications Technology and Mobile Communications

They have explained various technologies in switching like C-DOT, FDF, MDF, DWDM, optical fusion splicing and air blowing mechanisms. In broadband they have explained the tier mechanisms and star mesh and ring topologies. They clearly explained the construction of BTS systems, antenna placing etc. They also explained the details and importance of GSM and CDMA technologies in mobile communications.

Around 120 students wholeheartedly felt that they have learned few concepts both theoretically and practically in this visit to BSNL, RTTC. This visit is coordinated by N.Pandu Ranga Reddy, M.Murali Krishna and Mr.Kranthi Kumar.We thanks management and TEQUIP II for providing such a wonderful opportunity for visiting BSNL, RTTC, Hyderabad.

The Department of ECE has organized a one day seminar on “Design Concepts of Embedded Systems” by Mr.Kishore Verma, Design Engineer, EPR Labs, Bangalore on 10th February 2016 at ECE seminar hall between 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM for the benefit of third year students.

Circuit Simulation Using TINA Software

REPORT ON ONE DAY SKILL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP ON (FOR NON TEACHING STAFF)
“Circuit Simulation Using TINA Software”

The department of ECE has organized a one day skill development work shop for non teaching staff on “Circuit Simulation Using TINA Software” on 28th December 2015.

During the Forenoon session of workshop, Introduction to TINA and its applications in different domains, Design of simple circuits, observation of output from the circuits like node voltage current both ac and dc quantities. They explained about DC characteristics of semiconductor devices and its respective calculations.

During Afternoon session of workshop, they discussed about designing of amplifiers, construction, and simulation of those amplifiers. They discussed about AC analysis of the amplifiers, checking input output signals, transient analysis and frequency response of the circuits. Noise analysis of the circuits also discussed in the workshop.

The workshop was mainly focused on improving technical skills of non teaching staff. The training was provided by faculty M.Murali Krishna of ECE department.

“ARDUINO BOARD INTERFACING”

The department of ECE has organized a Two-day Workshop on “ARDUINO BOARD INTERFACING" during 24th and 25th July 2015. The department has invited the resource person Sourabh Joshi, RF Engineer from VEM Technologies.

During the First day of workshop, Introduction to Arduino board, its modules and interfaces with Microcontroller, pin diagram, and its importance in real time application was explained. They explained about Arduino software tool, how to download the software and its installation procedures.

During Second day of workshop, they explained about programming structure, also how to download bit file in to Arduino board. Hands on experience on different applications like ADC, LCD, LED, RFID based system and implementation of Android based applications.

The workshop was mainly focused on III-year B.Tech students. Around 64 students benefitted from this workshop. A good feedback was given by the participants. This two day workshop was coordinated by Mr. Shaik Jakeer Hussain, Mr. T. Surender Reddy and Mr. B.Srinivas.

REPORT ON A TWO-DAY WORKSHOP (FDP) ON
“MIXED SIGNAL DESIGN & VERIFICATION USING CADENCE TOOLS”

The department of ECE has organized a Two-day Workshop (FDP) for staff & PG Students on “Mixed Signal Design & Verification Using Cadence Tools” during 27th-28th February 2015. The workshop is inaugurated by Dr. Sudhakara Reddy Principal, MREC. The guests of this workshop are Dr. Swarna Bai Arniker, Scientist 'E', Head SSQD/DR&QA, RCI, Hyderabad & Prof. Anil Kumar Saxena, UGC nominee for MREC, Former Professor, Agriculture University, Hyderabad. Dr. Swarna Bai Arniker explained the Research activities in the field of VLSI technology at RCI, Hyderabad. Prof. Anil Kumar Saxena explained the role and responsibility of teachers.

Aggressive scaling of IC technologies, as well as advancing the integration of heterogeneous physical domains on chip, substantially complicates the design of analog and mixed-signal (AMS) components. In addition, their interplay with the rest of the system-on-chip challenges design, verification and test. The new technology trends bring up enormous challenges and opportunities for AMS design automation. This is reflected by an increase in research activity on AMS CAD worldwide. The purpose of this workshop is to present recent advances on Mixed signal design and verification, which motivates new research topics and directions in this area.

This workshop consists of lectures delivered by industry persons and design engineers working on Cadence tools followed by hands-on experience on Mixed signal design and verification. The participants had great exposure to the Digital design simulation, Analog Mixed signal Simulation, Verification techniques and Hands on sessions on verilog, verilog-a, verilog-ams languages. During the first day of workshop, Digital design concepts in Verilog, Writing verification techniques in System verilog, Basics of UVM methodologies and Hands on sessions on Verilog and Verilog-a languages using cadence were covered. The topics covered in second day are Analog Mixed Signal concepts, Verification concepts of Analog mixed signal and Hands on sessions on verilog-ams languages using cadence.

The training was given for 40 participants of various institutions like GRIET, BVRIT, VNRVJIET, CMREC, Indure institute of technology and MREC. The training was provided by industry members of K. Venkataramana Senior Engineer: ASIC - Analog & Mixed Signal, G.Sivaji Technical Lead: FPGA & ASIC,Harikrishna and N.Madhusudhana Reddy Senior Design Engineer: FPGA & ASIC INFOTECH PVT. “ROBOTICS - ANDROID BOTICS”

The department of ECE has organized a two day work shop on “Robotics - Android Botics” during 13th and 14th Feb 2015 In Association with Robospecies Technologies Pvt.Ltd (Sportech’15 - IIT Delhi)

During the First day of workshop, Introduction to Microcontrollers, types of microcontrollers, simple programs for ATMEGA8 processors using audrino kit for real time applications was explained. They also explained about software tool Roboduino and its installation procedures.

During Second day of workshop, they explained about how to dump program into audrino kit, made students to learn simple programs, line follower robo and also how to contol robo with bluetooth. Hands on experience on audrino kits and their programming. They also conducted programming and quiz competition and selected three teams for the participation in Sportech’15, IIT Delhi going to be held on 3rd to 5th March,2015

The workshop was mainly focused on II and III-year B.Tech students. Around 100 students benefitted from this workshop. A good feedback was given by the participants. This two day workshop was coordinated by Dr.M.Jagdissh,Head ECE Department & Mr.B.Srinivas

REPORT ON ONE DAY SKILL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP ON
(FOR NON TEACHING STAFF)
“CADENCE TOOL TUTORIAL”

The department of ECE has organized a one day skill development work shop for non teaching staff on “CADENCE TOOL TUTORIAL” on 24th JANUARY 2015.

During the forenoon session of workshop, Introduction to concepts of VLSI design issues and its applications in different domains, Cadence tool flow of schematic and layout design is explained in detail.

During the afternoon session of workshop, complete tool flow such as Schematic entry, Simulation, Layout and DRC, Extraction and LVS, Post Layout simulation have been observed on few example circuits.

The workshop was mainly focused on improving technical skills of non teaching staff. The training was provided by faculty members M. Kavicharan and V. Srinivas of ECE department. Seven Members were present for the workshop.

“PROGRAMMING WITH MATLAB”

The department of ECE has organized a one day skill development work shop for non teaching staff on “PROGRAMMING WITH MATLAB” on 6th December 2014.

During the Forenoon session of workshop, Introduction to MATLAB and its applications in different domains, performing matrix operations, usage of simple commands, variables and functions was explained. They explained about signal generation procedures, manipulation of signals and various operations on signals to be performed.

During Afternoon session of workshop, they discussed about various transformation techniques such as Fourier, Laplace, Z-transforms and its inverse procedures. They discussed about calculating magnitude, phase, real part and imaginary part of signals. The introduction of Symbolic math tool box and its usage in finding differentiation and integration of signals was discussed.

The workshop was mainly focused on improving technical skills of non teaching staff. The training was provided by faculty members B.Srinivas and C.Silpa of ECE department.
