Mechanical Engineering

The department of Mechanical Engineering at Malla Reddy Engineering College (MREC) was started right from the inception of the college in the year 2002 with a vision of imparting high quality education to suit the global standards in Mechanical Engineering. The student intake in the year 2002 was 60 which has been gradually increased to 240 from the academic year 2014-15. The department was accredited by NBA in 2008 and re-accredited in 2014.

The M.Tech course in Thermal Engineering was started from the year 2010 with student intake of 18. M.Tech course in Advanced Manufacturing Systems was introduced from the academic year 2013-14 and Machine Design is introduced from the academic year 2014-15 with an intake of 24 each.

The Mechanical Engineering department has highly qualified and committed faculty members supported by dedicated technical staff. Under academic activity more emphasis is bestowed on deep comprehension and understanding of fundamental principles of each subjects in all cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains.

The department has established sophisticated laboratories not only to suit curriculum requirements but also to serve research needs such as CAD/CAM, Advanced IC Engines, Computational Methods (CFD) Computerized Heat Transfer, Computerized Fluid mechanics & Hydraulic Machinery, Mechanics of Solids, Metallurgy, Metrology, Machine Tools, Instrumentation, Production Technology, Engineering Mechanics and Engineering Workshop.

The department has excellent academic track record besides co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Many of the students are placed in reputed companies like, Infotech, Infosys, Dell, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Accenture, Merchant Navy, Kean India, Vijay Electricals Pvt ltd, Shoba Developers, Hyundai Motors, Pooja Priya and Agarwal Foundries.

The academic activities of the department emphasis deep understanding of fundamental principles, development of creative ability to handle the challenges of Mechanical Engineering and the analytical ability to solve the problems which are multi-disciplinary in nature.

The faculty members of the department have activity engaged in research area like Advanced Welding Technologies, Alternate fuels for IC engine, Heat Pipes, Composite Materials, Value Engineering, Air-conditioning, Enterprise Modeling and energy systems.

The department organizes workshops, Seminars, Expert lecturers, Group discussions, Competitions, sports and other activities for the all round development of the Mechanical Engineering students.
